Any way to remove speaker covers for cleaning?

There are usually a couple screws holding the door panel on as well, typically around the door handle. Look for small panels which would cover those screws.
In my 1992 ES there is a single screw right in the center of the door "grab handle" which would need to be removed.
If you start by pulling around the perimeter of the door panel (GENTLY!) you'll discover pretty quickly where the solid fasteners (screws or bolts) are. Just take your time, and be careful.

I would just clean the covers without removing anything - that's what I did and they look brand new. Plus there is no risk of breaking anything by removing the door and A LOT less time is wasted...

Just curious how you actually got the speaker cover clean without allowing cleaning detergent to seep through the cover-fabric potentially damaging the speaker itself? I am interested in trying your method.

I used a foam type carpet cleaner. (I can't remember the name of it and the label is ripped off and unable to read it 
) anyways all I did was spray the carpet cleaner on the covers and waited a bit so that the foam would set in and do its job. The foam doesnt go through the fabric, unlike a liquid would, so therefore the speakers are left undamaged. Then I simply used a white towel and gently rubbed and wiped it off. Don't rub too hard because the fabric will move around too much and could rip..Just go slow and you'll see the white towel begin to get dirty and your covers begin to get clean 
I have beige interior and you can just imagine how dirty they were
