I just started hearing a faint rattling noise on my 2001 es300. It can't be heard in neutral or park, but can be heard in reverse or drive. Its more prominent when you accelerate suddenly or right when you go from lets say, park to drive. I know it isn't the heat shield since we got it removed, but that is it. It sounds almost as if metal is grinding, or a sqeaking belt, but i really doubt it is either of those things, it is just a faint rattle that is there no matter whether the car is warmed up or not.

Little update, sounds like it coming from the passenger side front, more towards the engine then the rear of the car, anyone?

127k, and i dont think it is from the strut cause it can be heard only brefily when changing from park-drive/reverse, isnt evident while driving, and is very faint. Could it be the heat shield around the catalytic converter? And how could the tire be casuing the noise
