Default upgrade headlights on 1999 Lexus es300

The standard headlights on my es300 are 55 watts but I need brighter lights like 65 xenon light bulbs for both high & low beams . Any suggestions how to do this.

HID kit is probably the only way you can get brighter output than standard halogen lighting.

If you have halogen lights then I recommend Sylvania SilverStar Ultra Headlight Bulbs. They are about the brightest and highest quality you can get for a halogen bulb. Otherwise you would need to have a retrofit done so you can have HIDs.

I dont know if it was just me, but 40 dollar a bulb ($80 for both w/out tax), and it didnt do anything different from the one i had previously. Maybe it was just my bad experience.

If you want more bag for the buck, I would go with HID's. I got mine from a company called DDM Tuning, www.ddmtuning.com
I paid $70.00 dollars for mine and they are 35watts with the 8k bulbs, much brighter than hallogen bulbs and right now I saw their HID's are on sale at $50.00 for a set. Very minor manipulation, but basically, plug and play.

Anyone have pictures of an ES retrofited with HID's. I have factory HID in my RX and would love to convert in my 2000 ES 300. I cannot believe how inexpensive some of those aftermarket kits are. @ bulbs, 2 ballasts and wiring for less then $100.00 Does anyone have experience with the quality and longevity of these aftermarket HID kits.

yes, they last long. DO NOT BUY THE EBAY "SPECIAL"

Go with a reputable brand such as Helligkeit, which is arguably one of the best kits out there... And only one seller carries it on eBay.

I swapped this kit into my car for 'fun' one day, and it was a year in my friends' car, and i am now going on, 6 more months or so?

Good stuff. I have read that our very own vendor on here is great! And the kits are superb. I will be buying my next one from CL, since they do havea 2yr warranty To me that is valuable since a company is willing to stand by their product.

But Projectors or not, aim the damn headlights properly as to not blind oncoming traffic I might be attempting a retrofit in the spring/summer if my plans work out, with some 325i BMW projectors.

We shall see.

Cheers,
Mike

I love having projectors on my 2ES and 6.5Camry

Don't forget guys, if the glare is really bad in your reflector style housings, its better not to put them in. While you may see more light on the road, drivers coming towards you will see a wall of light which makes it harder to see the road for them. You don't want to be a typical Honda modder do you?

If it gets to the point where you want to keep them in, aim them super low to reduce the glare, or do the proper retrofitted projector set up

Weird. Myself and a few other friends [3 other guys] all have this kit for a while now... with zero issues.

Mind you, you bought it from someone questionable then, because those kits used to be only 70$ shipped to Canada, and now are even cheaper...

i have nothing to hate on ebay brands, since all mines are ebay brands but with Helligkeit bulbs. I cant complain cuz one kit was like 50 and the other was like 29, patients is a virtue. but if you dont want to retro, spend some time aiming them correctly

Mine on the ES are also from DDM Tuning...
This is where I will order my HIDs from from now on. Superfast shipping, lots of options, unbeatable prices...

They offer a cheaper kit also which at times is $35.00 and comes with a 1 year warranty. The more expensive set offers the lifetime warranty if memory serves me correctly....

And the nice thing about DDM.....They are in the states and have a contact phone number listed on their website!
