Hey yall, I haven't been having any problems with my ES whatsoever -- I love it, and am thoroughly enjoying it. Just recently, I've noticed that the little in-dash BRAKE back light (when you apply the emergency brake) will come on and off randomly, when the emergency brake is not applied.

I'm not too worried, because I don't notice the car driving any different but I have a couple of questions: Why is it doing this? Could there be any harm being done with this light coming on and off, affecting the car without me knowing? How can I fix this (without going to the dealership)? Any and all thoughts and suggestions are welcome. And as always:

Brake fluid is low. It should solve the problem if you add some. I had the same thing happen to my 2ES. It was to the point where it would flash on/off intermittently and annoy the crap out of me lol...

LOL! What are the odds! haha this happened to me a few days ago, got some more fluid to top and good to go, so far 4-5 days no problems!

Don't just add fluid w/o checking the brakes first.

The fluid is low because the brake pistons must go further out to compensate for the wearing/worn brake pads. Check the pads just to be on the safe side, and make sure there arent any brake fluid leaks, especially at the master cylinder or brake booster.

Thanks a bunch for the replies guys. I think that's got to be it, because I need a brake job pretty bad. I'm assuming it's both needing new brakes + brake fluid. Would you recommend I still check for any brake fluid leaks? You guys are the best.

Good information guys, will keep this in my memory bank in case this ever happens to me. I just replaced all my brakes and upgraded to drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic brake pads and topped of my brake fluid reservoir. Jem1660, for safety reasons, I would still do a quick check to make sure you dont have any leaks, if your going to take in your car to have the brakes done, they should check for any leaks.........good luck.

^Thats exactly my thought as well. Good luck, it should just be a straight forward brake job.
