1997 Es300 subwoofer install
Anyone who installed a aftermarket sub/amp:
Did you use the back seat belt bolt to ground the amp?
Also, did you remove the stock sub completely? Does it sound better with the empty hole?

I don't know about the first question because I had best buy install mine.. but about the stock sub removal.. I did that and did find a bit more bass in the cabin and it lets it flow in better instead of having the bass floating around in the trunk.

Pretty much, maybe it was just my imagination though.. i did it mainly because sometimes my subs would cut in and out and icouldnt tell if all the bass was coming from the stock sub or the kickers so i took it out and whenever the kickers cut out it was just flat music.

Just finalized the install today and you're right. To top it off, the stock was busted, hence the aftermarket, and it sounded awful. I went ahead and removed the stock and it was much cleaner. I must say, the low amount of rattle from the trunk surprised me but I think I will be laying down some Dynamat on the surface where the stock sub was. Thanks for your input guys!

the rear deck dosent rattle much in this car, if your going to deaden anything, do the trunk lid and the inner rear fenders. makes a huge difference.
dynamat sucks btw, you can get much better for the price. go with second skin or ssd.
