Default '02 ES300 UnderHood Lighting

Last week I put CCFL bulbs in the trunk. Here's the link
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...-in-trunk.html

Liked it enough to put some under the hood. I thought it would come in handy on the road at night. The results were great!

I removed a couple of the Trim plugs that hold the hood liner in place. 1 went flying and was replaced for $1.60. I mounted the bulbs on the metal behind the rubber seal at the front of the hood. First I used the velcro that came with the bulbs, but wasn't confident they would hold so switched to silicone seal. You can see the tape holding them while the silicone sets.

I seated the power supply near the bulbs under the hood insultion with velcro. It is not visible in the pic. The wire is on the surface under the hood insulation, then I routed it into the hood brace and out the hole near the strut.

And then under the plastic trim:

From there to the Fuse box. I tapped into the Horn Fuse (10amp).There is a ground lug right behind the air box, wasn't that convenient.

I also placed an on/off switch in the circuit and seat it just under the strut brace. I was tempted to use a mercury typeswitch to have the lights come on when the hood was opened but we don't do much mileage on this car and the hood is usually up in the garage and the car is on a battery tender.

Some shots of the lights in the darkened garage:

Cool

Nice mod. Ensures that you'll be shutting the hood ever so gently too.

I got them from an Amazon Seller - Moddersmart - 888-333-4942

They don't have any listed on Amazon, but you could call and find out if they have them in stock.

I have seen other sellers on EBay and Amazon with them
