While drying off the inside of my gas cap door at the car wash today, I knocked off a little V shaped piece of metal off of the inside of the gas cap door. One end of one part of the V has a little black cover. I couldn't figure out where exactly the part goes. But it does something to pop open the gas cap door, after either releasing handle has been pulled. So the only way I can now open the gas cap door is to pull the releasing handle inside the trunk while I pry the door open with a finger. If someone with a 1997 to a 2001 ES300 could take a photo of the inside of their gas cap door, and post it in this thread, then maybe I could figure out exactly how and where to attach the little part.

It basically acts like a spring, pushing the door open whenever the latch is released.

Yes, I know that, but I tried to reinstall it in various places, and I could not figure out where to attach the V shaped part so it will pop the door open when I pull the releasing handle. So I need a photo.
