Finally spark plug instruction for 2000
O.k. after researching all of the spark plug removal instruction in this forum, i decided to try to do mine. So since there was no 2000 es specific instruction, i've taken some picture along the way.
Main tools that you need: 6" extension, 5/8 socket, 3/8 drive.
Remove engine cover with a 5mm hex nut
After cover removed
Unscrew the 10mm bolt that hold down the spark plug booth and snap the wire harness plug, then pull the booth out.
Plug that was remove is an IRIDIUM DENSO SK20R11
I'm on budget so i'm going with the cheapest plugs non iridium.
Gap the plugs to .044"
Apply antiseize
Tighten with hand
Torque to 13ft lbs.
This is where the universal joint and the extension is in use.
Pic backside plugs.
yeah, there you go for all of the 1mzfe owner.
It took me about 2 1/2 hours to do this job, it was pretty hard to get to the rear side. I forgot to buy the 6" extension, which made the job alot harder. I had to improvise and use the universal joint with a 3" extension.

4th time, how often do you change your plugs. cuz, the plugs that i just installed should last me for about another 60k miles or so. Now i'm just waiting for the weekend, so i can do the IACV and throttle body cleaning. My car is starting to hesitate during start-up. Again trying to find any instruction on how to disassemble the throttle body in order to clean it.

ontoy nice write up. If you get to the IACV and throttle body cleaning and don't mind, please do a write up as that's something I've been meaning to do as well. if I get to it before you I'll do a write up. Probably won't be for another 2 months cuz I decided to take a summer class

on this car it takes way too long and too difficult. on mazda [pre-2003, the actual mazda made, not ford] and nissan v6 , takes 10 minutes, no sweat
ughh, but, it's a lexus, so it's all good
remmeber to gap with the little hole called gap opener, not the ring itself. be careful not to hurt the tip of electrode. they are weak little buggers, and the iridium plugs seem so for sure because i broke the tip even gaping it properly, by accident.
fsm says .043, but everything else says .044 ... for my 1993 3mz-fe, anyway... but i thought i would bring this to attn
