1995 es300 Stall by itself
1995 ES300
Lately I the es300 stalled while driving. I restarts the car and it drive. It stalled again. The stalling happened anytime.
I have the codes retrieved.
1. Cyl #6 misfire and
2. ignition bank 1 circuit problem.
3. Will replacing ignition coil in cyl #6 fixed the misfire?
4. How to fix ignition bank 1 problem?
5. Where is the position of cyl #6 if I'm facing the car? There are
2 rows of the coils, a total of 6.
6. Any other solution to fix item 1 and 2?
Thanks
Teck

These are the codes:
P0306 cyl #6 misfire
1300 ignition bank 1 circuit problem
Why does the car stalled by itself while driving?

Here is why the car is stalling:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The ECM determines the ignition timing, turns on Tr1 at a predetermined angle (°CA) before the desired ignition timing and outputs an ignition signal IGT to the igniter.
Since the width of the IGT signal is constant, the dwell angle control circuit in the igniter determines the time the control circuit starts primary current flow to the ignition coil based on the engine rpm and ignition timing one revolution ago, that is, the time the Tr2 turns on.
When it reaches the ignition timing, the ECM turns Tr1 off and outputs the IGT signal "0".
This turns Tr2 off, interrupting the primary current flow and generating a high voltage in the secondary coil which causes the spark plug to spark. Also, by the counter electromotive force generated when the primary current is interrupted, the igniter sends an ignition confirmation signal IGT to the ECM.
The ECM stops fuel injection as a fail safe function when the IGT signal is not input to the ECM.
There is a problem with the ignitor, I would replace it first before worrying about the #6 missfire. Its either the Ignitor itself or there is a shorted wire not sending a signal to the PCM
Sad part is that the Ignitor is not cheap, Its about $470 just for the part.
