I have a '94 es300 and ever since ive had the car there has always been problems with the ipod adapter. i plug the adapter into the cigarette lighter, and the device never turns on. ive checked the adapter and it does work on other cars. any one have any suggestions how to fix this?

I've had the exact same problem with an iPod adapter in my '92. It will power up occasionally, but it's only intermittent power. And then when I remove the adapter it pulls the cigarette lighter socket out with it.
