Default cv axle replacement

Has anyone ever replaced the outer CV axles on a 94 ES300? Looking at a Camry service manual it seems maybe I would need a brass punch. Guess that's not too bad, but don't know where to get one-Was just wondering how complicated it is? I can't figure out if the hubs have to come off or what? Would appreciate some "how to's" if anyone has done this-Parts are very inexpensive bur don't wanna start it only to find I need some special "puller" or something. Thanks

ok here ya go...

This process is for a 1994 camry V6, but its the same car mechanically in 1994.

1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it safely.
2. Remove the front wheels.

then:

^^Fig. 1: Remove the locknut cap and cotter pin, make sure you discard the old cotter pin.

^Fig. 2: Use a large breaker bar to loosen the axle hub nut.
Have an assistant depress the brake pedal and loosen the bearing locknut. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! DO NOT TURN AGAINST THE PARKING PAWL IN THE TRANSMISSION, IT WILL DESTROY YOUR TRANNY.

Fig. 3: Inspect the threads of the nut and shaft.

Remove the engine under cover. (its that big plastic thing under your engine, it may or may not be there, depedning on who had your car before you.)

Remove the fender apron seal.

Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.

On the slide out driveshafts proceed with the following:

1.Disconnect the steering knuckle from the lower control arm.
2. Use a plastic hammer and carefully tap the outer end of the halfshaft until it frees itself from the axle hub.
3.Cover the outer boot with a rag and then remove the inner end of the halfshaft from the transaxle. Use the proper tools.

^Fig. 4: Place matchmarks on the driveshaft housing and transaxle housing with paint or crayon.

^Fig. 5: Loosen the six hex head bolts from the driveshaft

^Fig. 6: Separate all the lower suspension components from the end of the driveshaft

^Fig. 7: Pull and maneuver the driveshaft out (or in the terms of the mechanic, cuss, spit and yell at it as you yank as hard as you can. )

^Fig. 8: Place a catch pan under the flange to catch any falling grease.

9.

On the bolt type driveshafts proceed with the following:

1. Loosen the six nuts holding the front driveshaft to the center driveshaft or differential side gear shaft.

2.Separate the steering knuckle from the lower ball joint.

3.Drain the transaxle fluid or differential oil.

4. Place matchmarks on the driveshaft and side gear or center shaft using paint.

5. With a plastic hammer, tap to separate the axle hub and cover.

6. Remove the 6 hex head bolts from the driveshaft, then pry the assembly out. On the left side you will have to remove the bearing lock bolt and snapring prior to removal.

I guess my only other question is: since I'm replacing the whole axle, I won't need to mark the thing will I? I assume that is just for when replacing a boot so you can get it back into the same grooves. I purchased the whole axle new for 59 bucks so I wouldn't have to disassemble and replace the torn boots. Thanks again.

75.00
Here is a little news for you. Autozone supplies most of Pepboys automotive parts. So you might just be getting back the same part.
