Default why AC causes power loss in 4 cylinder cars

hey i have a question, i been reading some car reviews and alot of 4 cylinder owners complain of a power loss when the AC is on. I know the AC uses some power to operate but effecting driving power loss?? I know I dont experience anything regardless how high i turn my AC. any explanations??

most 4cyl engines lack torque/power. When the AC is engaged, it takes a toll on the engine. When you have no power to start with, you feel the car lag even more.

But on most V6, the difference is less because you already have more power off the line.

Btw, the AC compressor is either on or off. Once it's on, it saps the same mount of power whether your fan is low or high

Cool

The same compressor put on a different engine iwll always extrac the same amount of power to run at the same RPM's.

In the case of our large A/C compressors they take about 9 peak horsepower to drive at wide open throttle 5000-6000rpm ish.

Same for the alternator, power (vacuum assisted) brakes, and the powersteering system. Go turn your wheels to lock while you're idling and listen to the engine idle-up so that it doesn't stall.
