I have the standard stock rims on my new 2002 ES300 and would like to replace them with the latest GS300 rims. The diameter of the rims are exactly the same (16") but the ES is 6.5" wide and the GS is 7.5" wide. Will this cause a problem? If so, are there any other rims from Lexus that will work on the 2002 ES300?

Hey heatmiser,

I have a '99 ES300 and I would be willing to bet that the whell wells and suspension is pretty much the same. I changed out my stock 15" alloys (Coach Edition ones) for 17" X7.5 Enkei Etoria 195's from Discount Tire (Americas tire - website I believe is www.americastire.com) mounted on 225X50X17 Nitto NT450's. Got a great deal on all 4. If you like chrome 5-star rims, these are the ones to buy. They are a perfect fit on my ES300!! I can take 4 passangers without rubbing! The car also handles a bit better too (15's to 17's and lower profile improves cornering). The website even has a tire/rim selector that will allow you to see all of the sizes that will fit on your 2002 ES300 so give it a looksee and tell me what ya think.

I was wondering, how much of a difference in the ride did you notice in going from 15" to 17"?

Hey Guyver,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to ya! When I changed from 15 to 17" rims (tire diameter increased by 1/2" but sidewall shrunk by a full 2") my ride changes were very minor. I can feel the roads bumps just a tiny bit more but the superior designed chassis and shock dampening system of the ES300 makes the changes VERY subtle! Appearance-wise, it really made a BIG difference to my ride! I won't be going back anytime soon!

How well will 18's fit?

Shouldn't be a problem. Watch tire diameters though (height) and make sure the offset on your rims is for FWD (if for ES300)cars otherwise you could have a problem with the outer wheel well. Since my 17" rims were installed and I increased the diameter by 1/2", I have noticed that if I have 2 people in the back or the trunk loaded down with cargo (or both), with moderate to large bumps my tires bottom out in the back (225 X 50's) so dont get anything taller than that. I believe a few members actually have some 18's for sale (used). Check out the tire & rims forum and you will see some postings.

Your bolt pattern is 114.3x5 and offsets should be between +40 to +45. Most of the TRD issued rims for the Solara and Camry are +43. 18X8 rims would be the biggest I would go. Check the example on this site below. The owner by the name of Tiem is using 18X8 BBS RX wheels with a +40 offset on his Camry.
