Ok , Got this Code ..po440 ... Mechanic found gas cap was not on correctly .. Cleared The Code...Check Engine light came back on again after 50 miles. Re-Read Code , Still Comming up the same ..po440 . I have been Fueling the Car "Over full " All this time ..I didnt relieze it would have caused Promblems with the emmisions doing this Untill reading other posts about this code. My Question is , Did I destroy the Charcol Canister because the code came back after being cleared? Can I just pull ECU Fuse and reset the system or will the Check engine light come back on? I called Lexus Today and they Want $300 just for the Canister.. I tried pulling the ECU fuse Bit it didnt Reset the light ..Am I pulling the Wrong fuse?

Pressure test the gas cap. The canister may be bad but you could have broken EVAP line or bad purge solenoid. Take it to a shop that has a smoke machine to check for evap leaks. If the canister is cracked smoke will come out and youll know where the leak is.
If no leaks are found the tech will test the VSVs. I dont know how many a 97 ES 300 has maybe 2.
No youre pulling the right fuse but the light will come right back on. Hard faults are just that.
