Default 99 es transmission problem

I have a 1999 es300 w/85k on it and am having a trani problem. When the car is cold 2nd to 3rd gear hangs and takes around 5 or 6 seconds to shift. I just had the fluid flushed last week with Type 4 but it didn't help
There is also a slight delay sometimes from 1st to second. Once the car is warm it drives well and does not fall out of gear or slip. anyone with transmission experience can help me please?

Thanks in advance

I have the same problem, but as you stated it only happens when the car is cold. The car is getting old, warming it up goes a long way. The delay from 1st to 2nd gear appears normal, as I test drove 4 different 99-00 ES 300's before buying mine.

This is NOT a problem! The transmission controller is designed to delay this shifting until the coolant reaches a predetermined temperature. Not to worry!

Thanks for the info. Makes sense seeing as the trans has lines running to the outside of the radiator. I guess the water temp brings the trans temp up to "optimal" operating tempatures. If only 1-2 shifting was smoother.. Ehh Can't complain as the car is rock solid in every aspect, otherwise.
