Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)?
Just took my 1997 Lexus ES300 in for service and had to replace the Idle Air Control Valve. Has anyone else experienced this issue with this model? The car had some "sputters" at idle and sometimes it was difficult to start, however this replacement really fixed it. Car runs flawlessly now. The fix, however, was about 500 bucks at Lexus for part and labor.

I really havent had any problem but I know some guys have.. Im pretty sure if you just clean it real good it should be OK , but all automotive shops now employ nothing but PARTS CHANGERS so go figure.....

it is a very common problem with the mid years of the 1MZ-FE engine.
A good cleaning may have solved the problem, but dealerships just tend to replace rather then repair (clean) as it is quicker for them.
just do a search in this forum on Idle Control Valve and see how many threads come up. (you will get pages)
