Default buying an es300 year 2000

Hi everybody,

I currently drive a 1990 cadillac deville. I've had it for about 2 years and have had to put quite a bit of money into it to keep it running well. I'm tired of having to constantly put money into it all the time and I'm looking for another car. I've drove a lot of american cars and just none of them compare to the comfort of the caddy. I've been reading a lot on lexus's and I really want to give them a try. I just don't wanna get screwed on a deal. A local dealership has a 2000 es300 for about 12000 with 96000 miles on it.

I want to know if this is a good car and a good year to buy. Is there any potential problems to look out for as well?? I am not at all a mechanic kind of guy so I can't really fix much myself. Also I am 21 years old...so is my insurance on this kind of vehicle gonna rock me a lot more than say like an american vehicle of the same year or so?? I'm just a young buck looking for a decent luxury style car that I'm not going to have issues with or have to put loads of money into all the time. I understand the obviously maintenance.

Thanks for the help everybody,

Landon

Try to look for individual seller, its much cheaper. I got my for 9,300.00 with 88k on it. Don't know about other models, but i really love my car. As for insurrance, i paid 560.00 for six months, no accident or ticket, with student discount. No problem for me, go for it.

Cool

Insurance won't be bad. You're basically in the same price range of the Camry. (They're normally only two insurance steps higher than the most loaded Camry XLE. Not like. Entire insurance brackets higher.)

Thanks for the quick replies

The only thing I'm worried about is service on where I would get things done at.

Do you guys normally go to a lexus dealer, different mechanic, or do it yourself.

Thanks,
Landon

I quite often go to the local Toyota dealership for service. Unless the car is under warranty, I don't think it is necessary to go directly to Lexus for service work. Lexus' prices for parts and labor are usually more expensive than Toyota or other independant shops. And with the ES, most of the mechanical parts are interchangeable with the V6 Camry, so you can often save some $$. An example: I checked with Lexus on the cost of a new ps pump. Their price was $330 while at the Toyota dealership, the pump (with the same part number but listed for the V6 Camry) was $205.

Cool

So the cheap marble bathrooms didn't offset the price differance?
