Question Good looks or comfort?

I am comtemplating on wether to get 17's or 18's for my ES300. Right now, at stock, I have 16's with 60 series tires. Tirerack suggests 50's for the 17 inch and 40's for the 18 inch rims. I live in a town with a lot of uneven roads (Clinton,Iowa). I'm thinking that if I go with the 18's, my ride will be more bumpy than the stock setup. I love the smoothness of the car right now and don't want to lose that. Anyone have some input to share?

sc430 18x8 with 225/40/18. my tires aren't that great and i get some road noise but my brother upgraded to 19's on his gs400 with dunlop sp9000s and it rides smoother than the stock 17's. could be the wide wheels though.

Out here in Iowa (and Illinois) the roads tend to tear up unevenly because of all the salt they put on the roads in the winter (so I have been told). That and the fact that they don't do a whole lot of repaving out here. A lot of cracks and potholes everywhere. That is why I was looking at the 50 series tires. To add a little more air cushion.

That is the reason for the thread. I want a summer set, just undecided on the size-17 or 18. Right now, I'm rolling on Bridgestone Turanza LS-V's. Really a smooth and quiet ride. I will probably put a set on my new wheels once I decide which size to go with. Going with Blizzaks for the winter.
