5w/30 or 10w/30 which is better for the car?

Default 5w/30 or 10w/30 which is better for the car?

My car currently has 210,000 miles is 5w30 still the oil to put in

5w-30 = preffered
10w-30 & 5w-20 = recommended

So i'm at 191,000 should i switch to 5x-30?

I would. Just that much easier to pump oil to the bearings during start-up...

Yea but just thinking i live in upstate NY it can get down to like 10 in the winter wouldn't the 5w-30 thin out to much when its cold like that.

that is the whole idea behind the 5w and 10w. These are the winter temp ratings, 5w flows easier at lower temps. So you get better lubrication (less friction) quicker. Once the engine starts to come up to normal operating temps, the 5w and 10w are going to flow the same.

I live outside of Boston and have very similar temps. It's been 5w synthetic for my 02 ES since I bought it.
