Bought a used 1998 ES 300. Need some help!!
Hello fellow lexus owners...
I recently bought a used 1998 ES 300 with 101K. I am currently happy with it but have some concerns over maintainance things. My old car was a 1992 Honda Accord coupe with 193K mileage. It still runs good but its been in an accident so donated that one with damaged front bumper and headlights. However Honda to a Lexus is a very big upgrade so I am concerned about the maintainance things..
Concerns
1) Tranny slightly (and very smoothly) slips between 1st-2nd and some times between 2nd and 3rd. Is there anyway to fix it? I searched tranny threads and found multiple responses like flushing tranny fluid / solenoid etc but too confused which one to do first.
2) The rear sturts are slightly hard. When i run over bumps I can feel some hardness and hear some sounds. What would be good idea to fix it with min. cost? The previous owner fixed them a year ago (i saw it in carfax history) but donno why it still not good.
3) Wind noise is little higher when driving on the Highway with 65+ speed. How to identify the air leaks or so?
4) Can hear more engine noise when I increase speed by pushing gas pedal hardly. Is it normal?
Issues identified
1) The LCD is messed up and I already saw the DIY on this forum. Thank you very much.
2) A crack on the windshield fixed it with new one.
Nice to haves.
1) Heated seats but my car doesnt have 'em. Is there anyway to install after market ones?
2)Automatically lock the door when placing in drive and unlock when placing in park. I saw a DIY but it didnt work even after several attempts.
With all the above things...I bought the car for $7700. Please let me know whether it was good deal or bad deal or just OK Deal.I think i might have asked too much
Thanks and I appreciate your responses.
