It's rarely a good idea to swap out the original transmission and swap in a manual. It would decrease what value there is in the 92 ES300.

If you need a manual transmission, purchase a vehicle originally equipped with one.

yeah, but my car is about 217k miles and i'm pretty sure the value of the car isnt much. expecially when my tranmission is givin out. plus i was reading how much ES300 manual was made.. and i think its pretty hard to find... since 1,395? was made. i've tried searching for 1 here in so-cal and had 1 luck @ an auction but it was already sold

Cool

You'll never find a manual ES.
It's semi-common to do a M/T swap on the ES/Camry/MR2's. No so much the ES's... There are afew places that go oer the M/T swap into a Camry.
You need The 92-93 E153 for the Camry platform (NOT the MR2 platform), or the gen1/2 Solara's E153. The '93 E153 has triple synchro's instead of dual.

I highly suggest putting an LSD in your differential at that time, or swapping in an MR2 differential & dealing with the shorter ratios.

You'll want a big, good clutch & plate. New throwout bearing, etc. You might aswell get a lighter weight flywheel. Fidanza's actually weigh around 12lbs. You can get custom ones made that go down to 6lbs.

pheonix, i actually did find a manual es.. and its for sale at an auction for 4k+..... roughly around 80k miles and i think thats a deal!... the problem is.. i don't have 4k to spend... so i was thinking of doing the swap that will cost way less then 4k. so what do you think?

Cool

The cost for swapping on a Camry historically comes out to about $1250-1700 performance parts depending. If it comes down to you're dead serious about making horsepower on that car & not saving money to buy something easilier to mod.

Then the question really becomes spend the money swapping a manual, or spending about the same money building the A/T. The manual would be faster on a track & be more fun. The A/T would kill it on a drag strip.
