Default reseting the temp gauge-99 es

How do I rest the outside tempreature gauge? The damn thiing is always reading -22 degrees.

You need to replace the coolant temperature sensor. Unfortunately I can't help you out on where it's located on your car, but if you do a search for "temp" or "temperature sensor" in this forum, you may be able get your answer there.

I might be missing something, but the sensor that controls the outside temp display has nothing whatsoever to do with the coolant temperature sensor. Please straighten me out if I'm wrong about this.

I gave you the wrong terminology, I don't know why I was thinking of engine temperature instead of the outdoor temp. In any case, it's not the coolant temp sensor; it's most likely the outdoor temp sensor but I'm not sure what the exact part is called. I can't find anything here in this search engine, so maybe you could call up the service dept of your Lexus dealership and inquire about the problem. If anything, I would let them do the work in getting the problem fixed but if it's something that you can handle, then you're on your own. Good luck.
