Damn how did I miss this post??? Awesome write up woogie! This is definitely my next upgrade!!! You saved me a big headache on figuring out what aftermarket system I was going to get, this should set me back a few more years.

Hi everyone,

I drive a 95 ES300. The lights behind my LCD/Climate control dash went out. There was a click like you hear when you turn on the headlights. Now the radio and air doesn't work and only the clock is displayed. Would a bulb replacement fix this most of the time or is there another possible issue?

If that is the problem, would the bulbs be visible from removing the radio in this tutorial, and where can I find the parts?

I checked out the bulb thread for the 2000 ES version, but since this is all new to me, I don't know the differences.

Thanks for the tutorial and your time.

Excellent write up! This will be least expensive alternative to totally replacing the radio (which Lexus did once before under warranty). I have this to do next on my list after the stupid seat belt replacement issue.

Hey guys, 1st post but I have been reading for a while.

Which is the correct part number for my 97 ES300?

CWM4931 per http://www.wikihow.com/Replace-the-Radio's-LCD-in-a-Lexus
or
CWM4319 per this thread?

Both part numbers exist in the Pioneer webpage.

Thanks. The reason I asked because I am located in Canada and the Pioneer phone number does NOT work for Canadians. It told me that the service is not available. I tried a few other places but none can verify which is the correct part number and there is no return policy. So I just want to be 100% sure before I order.

Excellent write up Woogie. I put it to use today, got everything apart on the bench and the part on order, it was $113.23 delivered.

everything went very smooth, in fact I did the R&R twice. The PO had a spare package from a parts yard, so I installed it only to find out it had the same problem. I put the original back in and will repair the yard unit.

Had you not gone to the trouble to provide a great DIY show-N-tell, I may never had gotten this done.

Many thanks
Harry

Default 97 ES300 Radio CNP4092 Circuit board part number

The info on the ES300 LCD replacement was very helpful.

I have a couple of the radio control bulbs that burned out, and there was a note that could get the bulbs at Radio Shack T1 blub. I tried and apparently they no longer carry the blubs.

When I put everything back together... All the radio control lights to all the buttons no longer light up. The circuit board with the solder bulbs read CNP4092, and when I check Pioneer website, I can not find this board.

By any chance if anyone know the part number for the board w/the blubs or if they sell the replacement board w/the blubs.

Thanks in advance.

About this T1 bulb does anyone have any info on it. Is it an led and if so what is the volts/amps/mcd of the led. I work at the shack and most likely it was replaced with something similar. Also they are heavily increasing their parts line so you might see a lot of stuff like this come back if it was disco

Default Another satisfied DIY'er

Yes, the part number for a 1998 ES is CWM4319. I JUST NOW completed the install and mine looked almost exactly like the one Woogie had... burned out in the same place. The whole process took an hour and a half. It would have been a little less, but the A/C vent and clock piece was a biznatch trying to get off. That burnt about 20 minutes. I brought the radio inside to change the display and put everything back together with the radio and then reinstalled in about 10 minutes. The hardest part is obviously getting to the radio itself. The part from Pioneer was $126.xx and arrived in one and a half days... ordered at 10:30 Wednesday night, arrived 11:00 am Friday morning. They should have it to you quick!

I'm a DIY rookie when it comes to cars, so if I can do it, you can! The display looks so much more clear and the display has blacker digits. SOOOO glad that smudged out area is gone forever. TURN IT UP!!!

Thanks Woog!!
