Default MAF sensor part #

ok, the typical p0171 cel has been on and i have done just a few things to remedy the situation w/o success. so i am gonna try the MAF sensor. well, i don't want to pay the $145 at the dealer for the part. i have found it on the net for $75 reman, made by cardone.

i called the stealership and i got the part # 22204-07010 but couldnt find any matches on the net for it. is this the right part # for a 99 es300 w/vvti??

Cool

:'(
Did you try cleaning the wire with a q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol? Sorry I can't remember. What all have you done?
p0171 is fuel trim lean & thats the only code you get?
Air induction system
 Injector blockage
 Mass air flow meter
 Engine coolant temp. sensor
 Fuel pressure
 Gas leak on exhaust system
Open or short in A/F sensor (bank 1, 2 sensor 1) circuit
 A/F sensor (bank 1, 2 sensor 1)
ECM

Did you check for vacuum leaks, coolant temp sensor, EGR system / exhaust leaks, fuel pressure & A/F sensors?

i did change the air filter back to a normal one, i took out the k&n. i have cleaned the MAF sensor.

i used the throttle body cleaner on the throttle body to clean it out.

i did not hear any sort of noise to hear any leaks, i know i may not hear it, but how else would i test it??

the ehaust sounds fine and i don't smell anyhing

i havent tested any circuits to see if they are open/closed

p0171 is the only code i get.

i am trying to go from cheapest to most expensive to se what the problem is.

the CEL comes on mostly on acceleration when i am almost up to speed, so i don't know what that means. i do reset the CEL with my obd-II

any tips??

i also replaced the plugs with ngk v-power, and the fuel filter that drained out some dirty fuel.

i didnt go with the iridium's b/c i really didnt see the benefit of an expensive plug this late in the game with 74k on the clock

i wanted to check the egr today, but it was raining. where exactly is it and is that a common thing to go also, i know they are pretty inexpensive

i have searched CL but didnt really find too many in detail answers to my problem

Actually that's my bad on the EGR, I didn't realize you had a newer vvt-i engine. They have no egr. Lucky you.
Vacuum leaks can be hard to find, especially if it's something like a split hose that only really leaks a lot when the engine rocks during changes in torque. Best to hook up a vacuum gauge.
You can reset the code with a scanner, or taking the battery cables off overnight normally.

Tho they have gone bad, I would feel better about you spending "big money" on a new maf, by testing it first.
I don't know the exact specs on an '00, like you found out, there was a MAF revision in there at some point. There's always the '97 & '01 FSM's if those could help.

It sounds to me like you're hitting all your bases. Check/replace the coolant sensor, the maf & fuel pressure.

well, the lag i am getting seems to be possible the trans.

i was going 35-45 and i put my foot to the floor to pass, there was the usual bad lag and then it seemed like the trans caught and i heard a weird noise, so i think i am gonna trade it. that does not make me feel safe
