Default Death of Lexus ES300

Just my opinion .

2001 was the last year of a real ELEGANT lexus ES300 . 1991 TO 2001are the best es 300 .

After that lexus start to make bulky ES . Models after 2001 looks like a fat guy with skinny legs .

the new es are very bulky . Though if you look at the individual part , they look good but as a whole all parts are mis match to the body and body don't go with the wheels . which look like skinny legs .

This also reminds me of Avalon before 2005 . the same skinny legs with bulky body.

NO HARD FEELINGS . DON'T GET PERSONAL . I APPOLOGISE IN ADVANCE IF IT OFFENDS SOME ONE . I AM ONLY TALKING ABOUT CARS , JUST CARS RIGHT

No offense taken. I agree with you that the new ES's are bulky and they are also getting heavier. I have a '96 ES 300 and it's great. I also like the generation after mine starting from '97. It's funny when cars are first introduced over it's evolution the car tends to get bigger, bulkier and heavier even though they increase the horsepower and torque. I'm happy with my car but at times I think maybe I should upgrade to the newer ES's because they are packed with lots of technology such as navigation and I would like to have that feature.

sub786, I totally agree with you all the way. That's the very reason why I have the '01 ES

Besides the bulky body appearance and the "mis-sized" wheels, I think everything else in the '02-'05 ES is a major step-up compared to the previous generation. We are talking about more options and added features, things that we wished were OEM in our cars all this time. The overall interior is probably the most significant improvement in that ES. It is downright luxurious and elegant, I could eat off of it

yes... the generations before the 4th is the best....they look better....i agree with "fatboy with skinny legs" my mom has the 04 ES330 and the only thing i like about her car is the interior!! the shift **** is outstanding...but the exterior is uncomparable to the generations before that....hopefully lexus will make the 07' model more aggressive and much like their brothers the GS and IS

Cool

gen5+ Camry car family = ugly.
It's like they decided to make it bigger without consulting the people that know something about style.
350's will be nicer, just look at the Camry / Avalon.
It's nothing to write home about - still looks the same old conservative stuff compaired to the rest of the segment - but will look 100% better. (Unless they F the headlights up again).

When I was looking for my Lexus I didn't even bother considering the 02+ ES because I couldn't stand the exterior proportions. Then I got one as a loaner and was floored by how elegant the interior was. The interior, at least, is definitely for those that want LS luxury but can't quite afford it.

Default 2006 Es330

I agree with most of you. While the exterior apperance is not my favorite feature, the interior cannot be beat. I find the exterior neither offensive or attractive. Like most people i spend most of my time inside the car and i love this car. It is the most elegant interior of any car in this price range. The moment i took it for a test drive i was sold.

i also agree with you. the PRE- '02 es 300 are the most elegant from the outside, without a question.

It's too bad they couldn't do the interior of '02 with the exterior of previous two generations. or at least make the exterior have more continuity with the previous two generations.

you hit the nail on the head, "Fat guy with skinny legs" and you're right, the pre- '05 avalons are the same way, just like the 02 and on camrys.

the previous two generations of es 300s are so classy looking. just a beautiful car.

I was not a big fan of the 02+ cars either, until I drove one. They are NICE. The previous generation was a great car, no doubt about it, but the new one has it beat on space and overall luxury. Just picked up a used '04 for the wife to use as a commuter/kid hauler and we LOVE it. When we were shopping we also drove an '04 GS and we didn't like it nearly as much. Very confining inside and dated interior.

agreed, 02' later models probably have the best interior, but the earlier models looked better. In the Es350, it kinda looks like they are cleaning up a bit and hopefully in 4-5 years when they have the next gen it would look more like the 1st gen

oh and I never understood what the platinum editon was?

Platinum Edition simply means that the 2000 ES300 came with a special package which consists of the following: Perforated seating, floormats with the Platinum logos, birds-eye interior wood trim, black pearl emblems, Platinum Edition badges on the front fenders, and special 16" wheels.

dang, so my '93 Es is missing out, and I bet tere aren't any kits for conversions. Looks like I need to upgrade but I hate parting with cars, that is why I'll always keep my first. Maybe I'll adopt another someday or do the custom work my self
