Default Hmm, thinking about buying my SC an ES to keep it company... reliability?

Well, I'm getting my real estate license this month and I can't see running around town in a turbo SC all day... I decided I need a 4-door daily driver. I was looking at used 98 or so GS300 / GS400, but I'm considering buying an ES300 from the local Lexus dealership. It is a 97 with 130k (!) miles and will be a really good deal if I do pick it up. However, I'm a bit unsure about how long this year ES300 lasts? My SC300 has over 200k miles on it and is running strong, but I don't know anything about ES300's and the milage thread doesn't have any posts of 97+ ES's with this high of milage as far as I can tell.

Think this would be a good candidate for me to pick up cheap and use as a daily driver for taking clients around town? I'm going to look at it now and check out the service history, etc.

My ES has 147k on it...it has seen synthetic oil and Lexus dealerships it's whole life...it runs flawlessly. I really think this motor will run deep into the 200k's...

165k on my 97 and it is by far the best car I ever owned. I had a few problems but normal wear and tear type stuff. Just make sure the IACV gets cleaned. It shoud be due about now. It is an easy D.I.Y. project

Well just went to look at the ES300... REALLY clean, looked great. Upgraded wheels, new tires, but otherwise stock with no known problems. The dealership wants $6900 for it with 129k, but I think I can talk them down to about $6000 with a high trade in for a 2000 Blazer I have wasting space in my driveway.

I have a 97 ES, 160,046 miles. Never had any mechanical issues, and in fact went twice as long as reccommended without needing a new timing belt! This car is an ace!

Great, looks like a solid buy for a daily driver... and a lot cheaper than the S4 I was considering financing. I just got all the money lined up, so now I just have to detail my trade-in tonight and hope they're willing to give me what I'm hoping for (about $500 less than KBB trade-in value)

I'll let you guys know how it turns out
