Have you checked your oil to see if your coolant is in there? Check your exhaust pipe and if you see fluid, check it out. Does it have a sweet smell like antifreeze. A thermostat stuck open or closed will not make your coolant disappear that fast. You may have leaking head gasket or a cracked block or a hairline crack in a cylinder that will suck up your fluid and burn it and spit it out. All these things will also cause you to overheat.

Your radiator cap may need replacing (not able to hold pressure) or your radiator may have a leaking hairline crack..etc.

Follow the lower radiator hose back up to the engine.

Cool

I would replace both pressure caps, thermostat & flush the fluid out. Test that the fan goes into high-speed by bridging E1 & OP1 in the diagnostic port, check that the water pump is OK. If all of that is good, replace the radiator & do a compression check to see if the head gasket is blown.

csaxon that picture on the v6 is incorrect. You're showing a 1mz-fe thermostat, not a 3vz-fe thermostat. The 3vz-fe thermostat is on the water inlet to the water pump on the passanger side of the engine.

Your temp gauge indicates a overheating? Mine did this and was loosing coolant like crazy b4 I bought it from the dealer. I made them replace the thermostat and water pump. U may have a bad o-ring..but if there is no leak...hmmmm odd
