Default ES300 93: Timing belt relate to transmission?

My timing belt broke last week. Replaced, but now the transmission seem to be not shift in 1st gear. It shifted right into 2nd when starting. Is it gone at the same time when the belt broke?

your timing belt broke? you should take it to a trusted mechanic for a once over. The toyota engines are strong, but dont think they take well to timing belts breaking.

The timing already replaced. The engine seem to be running normal. But now the transmission seem to be shifted right into 2nd gear, not shifting into 1st. when starting.

I always thought that the timing belt timed your rpm. If not adjusted correctly I can see how you got that problem.....

Cool

What they told you.

Toyota transverse v6's are all non-interferrance.
When the timing belt breaks, the cams simply stop turning. The crankshaft free-wheels until it stops. The engine is not damaged in any way, other than the lower timing belt cover (plastic) normally get's chewed up in the process.

143mph > 44,000 mile OEM Toyota belt.

Hydraulic tensioner > wrong size delco belt.

AFA the transmission... If it actually is a transmission problem, you have a #1 shift solenoid malfuction / unplugged.

You can also make sure the signal is being sent by the TTCU by checking the voltage in the diagnostics port on pin ECT.

It should be noted, that the TTCU does not lock up the TC in 2nd. That can only happen when manually triggered. It is programmed to only lock the TC in 3rd and 4th (o/d).

odd i could have swore that i saw a post on here a while ago where someones timing belt snapped and they pushed a piece of the engine down the lower part of the engine. all you saw was a split piece of metal pouring oil. Either way thats cool.

The valves don't overlap with the pistons. Someone may, or may not have posted it, but they would have been in error.
