Default Are Sunroof Deflectors Really Necessary

Do they really offer a benefit, are they really needed. I do like to ride around with the sunroof open on ocassion, would this help keep down the wind noise? Your comments would really be appreciated. Thank you.

No, they are not necessary or needed. In my opinion, they make the 92 - 01 ES look quite cheap from an appearance standpoint. I considered one when I bought mine & I am glad the members talked me out of it. It already has a 'built in' deflector that comes up when the sun roof opens up & it's all you need.

yea, sometimes its hard to tell the difference between an ES and a newer camry when they both have sunroof deflectors. I see them on camry's and accord's ALL the time. A Lexus' streamlined look need not be disturbed

I didn't like them either... but after seeing how it looked on the green/gray Windom in the aero kit thread, I likey. Still waiting to see when one becomes available on Yahoo Japan.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the input. I agree with the majority, I don't like them either. What's everyone's opinion on spoilers while we're talking about mods?

Spoilers add to the look of any car, IMO. As long as it does done with taste. If you're driving an ES, don't go mounting a wing with a 12 inch gap, a wing with 2 inch gap, however, is more tasteful. Not so sure about a spoiler on an ES, don't think i've seen too many.

I have a spoiler on my car. I dont really like it though, but it came with the car . IMO i think an es would look much cleaner without a spoiler.

I agree, must be done in good taste, also agree that I have not seen very many and do not really remember what they look like, anyone have any pics of ES with spoiler?

Same applies to the spoiler on the 92 - 01 ES.......just dosen't look right IMO. The 02+ look good with them but not the earlier ones.

Guys, I don't mean to call off the party, but the topic of this thread states your opinion on sunroof deflectors, not spoilers or wings. If you want to talk about the latter, revisit a past thread or create a new thread.

Let's please keep on topic, thanks

Doug, the author of the thread went on and asked what we thought about wings/spoilers in one of his posts, so I assumed that it would be ok to post Maybe you missed this:
