Talking My new headunit

Ok I finally got my new headunit in. Now all I have left is to hook up my aftermarket amp and finish building my subwoofer enclosure for my 2 15's. But I hope eveyone enjoys the pics.

Oh dont worry my car wont rattle. If you're going to do it you have to use dynomat. And I would love to have woodgrain but the cheapest price quote I got in my area to make that is $350. I would love to make one myself but I dont know where to get the woodgrain.

Smitty, I like the head unit. Can't go wrong with JVC, an excellent brand in the audio industry

Customizing wood trim surrounding an aftermarket head unit is a difficult task, but it can be done. I know a couple members who have done it to their ES, including this one below (he owns a '98 ES):

thats a pretty clean setup.

so, did you bypass the factory installed amps? ??

from what I understand you cannot run an afteramrket headunit on a lexus without bypassing the factory amps, due to omage diffrence.

My new headunit has a build in amp so all my speakers are running off that and my subs will be running off my aftermarket amp. I just cut the power to the factory amp.

Here's another one I found from this forum. Alpine head unit with custom surround wood trim. This guy (sk8er251cc) also owns a 2000 ES Platinum Edition.

Hmmm, now that I look at it, it seems that the color/hue of the wood trim is different for the black interior than for the tan interior. Anyone else notice that?

I agree, if you can get matching trim, this would rock! I think the 2000+ ES have the best wood trim interiors.

What method of madness did you choose to wire the eight speakers into a 4-channel radio? I had my head unit sitting in the closet for a while until I got my amp for mids+highs. My Eclipse doesnt have a built in amp....sweet. I rode around for about a week with only bass. Its funny to roll up on someone with all the windows down and they hear nothing but boom.
