Problems:
Replaced both front CV Joints
All 4 Shocks are worn out
Replaced the front outer tie rod ends
Steering giving me trouble, Hard to turn when my engine is not reving
Slow shift out of first gear sometimes
Needles are burning out (again)

I'm surprised Dealer stupidity wasn't included in the list...
They forgot to screw something in at my 100k service so it finally became loose enough to cause problems last week. They claimed that the engine was fine but they messed up big time with it and gave us a free service and loaner car for 2 days(I like the ES350 now). They're such horrible liars though...they said that they "couldn't" find the problem but it runs better than ever now

Hey 92ES5sp (and anyone else with an opinion) -- Responding to your summary of your ES. You include "Silverstars". OK, I'm kinda slow and old, but I assume that means a type of headlight. I posted a year or two ago about my original 95 headlights being fogged or whatever. Got the replies about taking them apart and cleaning them which is way beyond my meager ability. I can hardly see to drive at night and my son asks, what's up with your headlights? Any way for me to replace them or am I stuck with them since I can't do the "take them apart" thing? 95 with 190K and still looks and runs great. Want to keep at least to 250K. Thanks all!

^There are a lot of cleaners/polishes available to remove the haze. I dont have that problem so I dont have anything specific to recommend unfortunately. The stock bulbs are pretty bright with clean lenses, the Silverstars are only a slight improvement over stock IMO.

The car has had a few minor issues here and there but nothing too drastic. The Radio LCD Burnt out recently which wasn't surprising and I am going to fix this week when I get time. As of right now my check engine light and trac off keeps going on for a couple of days and then turning off. The transmission shop said that a sensor needs to be replaced on the transmission. The engine itself works great but it makes a ticking noise because of the lifters.

I have a 92 es300 with 112,000, in mint condition, the other day parked on a slight hill. Started it up and ready to put it in drive and it wouldn't move. Now I have to push the shift lock override button to put it in drive. Never use to do it before. Why does it do that now? did I break something?

I changed the fuse for the brake light, it was burnt out, now I can shift without using the shift lock button, but now my ac and radio dont turn on, guess I'll try to change the fuses for that also....

geez, what a POS
our ES250 was a mess when we got it... 168k miles, two owners, poorly treated and maintained from the looks of it. the whole engine compartment leaked, there was crap everywhere, fluids and road dirt. apparently a battery had exploded in there at some point too.
aside from having eaten a rod bearing, and the block being crap, the engine leaked all over. we just replaced it with one that had recently had:
timing belt
water pump
cam seals
crank seal
PCV
accessory belts.
did the rear main while the engine was out.
the trans was probably ok but we replaced that too.
did both axle seals and the input shaft seal, trans pan gasket, all leaked, on the replacement trans.
the rear trans mount is bad, we haven't gotten around to replacing that.
needs a park/neutral position switch... indicator on dash does not work, no reverse lights.
steering and suspension:
rack leaked like a pig- replaced
inner tie rods were crap- part of rack
consequential bad tire wear we'll have to live with for now.
outer tie rods appeared to have been replaced recently when we got it
control arm bushings were bad- replaced control arms
struts and springs, boots, etc were all bad- replaced all that.
and of course an alignment after that.
a/c converted to r134a and recharged.
condenser is starting to get old and nasty, and there may be a leak somewhere in the lines.
brake lines flushed fluid was very cloudy and the reservoir had chunks in it!
front rotors turned
front pads replaced
broken headlight adjuster mount- replaced headlight
rust on fender- treated and painted over w/touchup paint
few bulbs around the car are burnt out
auto antenna doesn't work
needs a damn clay job... i'm working on it in my limited free time.
yeah it'll be a damn long time before we buy another lexus!
psst... because this one will probably last us another 100k

Im not sure. Mine is like that and I never really tried to mess with it. I guess the last owner decided to use the front bumber as a curb-feeler.
