Do those work?? I know they work on my Toyota truck, but wasn't sure on the Lexus and didn't want to cause any undue problems? Glad to be a member of this organization and thanks for the response.

unplug the battery for a few mins...positive side. Or you can unplug the EFI fuse for the same amount of time and will reset the ECU.

i believe that the 92-96 es300 is and obd2 so just disconnecting the neg terminal for 15-30sec should reset the ECU. the ecu learns how you drive to provide the right fuel/air/shifting mapping for how you "usually" drive. once you reset it, punch and run the gas wide open to about 80mph. then it will run your mapping wide open. Keep in mind you'll have to do this every once in a while b/c it averages that mapping with typical everyday driving(when your not flooring it). it will run alot better then.

Only the 94-96 1MZ-FE was OBDII (the first OBDII compliant production engine in the world). 92-93 had the 3VZ-FE. Procedure to reset the ECU is the same way.

This is the universal method for all cars (i.e. disconnecting the battery or the ECU fuse). Unless you have a "check engine" light or some other residual problem with the ECU of your car, you shouldn't need to reset the computer.

I have never tried to test the high speeds out after resetting the ECU, but from what I understand, the computer would have to re-learn and re-adapt to your driving methods. I'm assuming you would notice some hesitation in the engine or transmission after resetting the computer, but I'm sure that will soon go away once the computer has fully communicated with your driving.

To reset your ECU, pull the EFI fuse for 10-20 seconds.

But you should check what the CEL is telling you (and fix / replace) whatever is broken.
