Default Trip pass 5000mi, service or oild change?

A possible trip is about 4000-5000 mile, now the car has 2000 on it. So after the trip, the odo will be 6000-7000. I wonder when it passes 5000, is it a good idea to have it oil chnaged, or leave it and do service until I come back at delaers?

The concern is, I think Lexus dealer they certainly know what kind of oil and filter to use, while other provider (say Jeffy Lube) they may use different kind and not a good idea for the engine, am I right?

Any suggestion? Thanks a lot.

If I'm not mistaken, the oil change occurring at the 5000 mile interval of your ES is a free service performed by the Lexus dealership, so by all means, bring your car to the dealership for an oil change

If you know you're gonna pass the 5k I suggest getting the change done at least at 3 or 4k miles. Any qualified mechanic can do the oil change for you. It's not rocket science. Of course Lexus dealers will use Toyota Genuine Parts and get that Lexus signature service. If you want, you can take it to most Toyota dealership (granted there is no Lexus dealer on site or in the immediate vicinity) service dept and they can do an oil change for you. Mind you it wont be free unless you go with a Lexus service dept.

Yeah, I know I'd pass 5000 on my way home.
Find a Toyota dealer to do it is realy a good idea, they are virtually everywhere
Thank you guys for your posts.

Will be any Lexus dealer on your trip? I believe Lexus will pay for the st 5k service, you could take to any Lexus dealer in US. I got my car from a Lexus dealer 20 miles away and they are going to make a reservation for my 5 k service at a closer dealer about 4 miles away for me.
