When I replaced the brake shoes on the 98 i noticed a huge amount of play on the passenger side front wheel. Come to find out the control arm had some play in it. It was not coming from the rear of the control arm (towards the back of the car, which looks like a ball joint connection) but the middle of the control arm where it looks like about a 3 inch long bushing of some sort has been damaged. Do you have a step by step process to fix this? Do I need to replace the whole control arm? Looking on autozone website, they show a kit to buy whick includes the ball joint. I need some guidence on how to attack this problem...

Anyone have a list of tools I'd need to do this myself? Doesn't look like I need anything special but I hate getting into the middle of a job only to find out I don't have a tool I need.

Pads and rotors? No special tools needed.

Jack stands, lug wrench, and a ratchet/socket set.

Ok, this is the part which has me stumped. I can't for the life of me understand what you're talking about. Looks like I need to take the star-patterned bolt off in order to get the rotor off.

So I just changed the pads for now. Want to change the rotors soon, though, so I need to understand what, exactly, I need to do in order to remove the rotors. Not making sense to me.

I thought you just use a rubber mallet or something?

You first need to obtain two bolts that will thread into the two holes in the rotor. Start both bolts and then tighten them, alternating from one to the other. As the bolts go in, they will push against the hub. This will force the rotor out and off.

Just a quick heads up i went to tirerack.com and found prices for rotors and pads..

127.00 total for Akebono pads and brembo plain rotors..

Pretty good deal IMO.. I still need to get a tool for the piston..

What size do I need in order to do this? I'll have to hit Home Depot or something in order to get them.
