Default How to by pass 92 - 96 ES300 amplifier

Here's the wiring diagram for the amplifier on the 92 - 96 ES300.

What you'll need to do is run speaker wires from your head unit to the corresponding speaker cable of the amplifier. Cut the speaker cable and connect it to the end that's not connected to the amplifier harness.

Thumbs up 96 ES300 P0401 Trouble Code Reset & Fix DIY

Hello Everyone!

Newbie here working on my lady's 96 ES300. I'm a Modest Experienced DIY 911 Guy and decide to DIY hers.

I read a bunch of threads about the P0401 issue " EGR Flow Insufficient" and Cold Start Issue.

Tested the VMV (Vacuum Modulator Valve or Solenoid or Assembly) it would not hold a vacuum so I went to my local Toyota Dealer and bought the VMV for a 92 Camry Toyota Part #25870-62020 $105.48 (Parts Guy hooked me up and sold it for $80) Autozone had it for $78.99 shipped in 2 days. Other places sell them for $64 or $45 but you have to wait for it be shipped and not OEM.

Prior to this I took off the VMV and cleaned it out. Still had cold start issue but when warm it started right away. I reset the CEL but the CEL came back on after 10-15 miles.

Literally 5 mintues in the Dealer's parking lot (they were not too happy about that, but no one complained) and popped in the new VMV with a 10MM socket wrench, disconnected the battery. Bingo Trouble Code Gone, Started Right Up and running 100+ miles no issues.

Hope this helps someone with like issues.

Cheers

Jim

Default 96 ES Power Antenna

Hello, I recently purchased a 96 ES 300 and the power antenna is broken. I bought an aftermarket assembly with red, green and black wires. Could someone provide some insight into getting it installed?
Thanks so much!

This product is garbage. They didn't reply to 2-3 email inquiries so I figured, "what the heck, this headlight restoration kit is only $14.95, I'll give it a shot." I'll say 1% cleaner, but all in all a worthless product.

just my $0.02

AC in my '96 ES300 kicks in but shuts off in few minutes, and in humid weather windshield and windows fog too much. What could be the problem?Does it need major AC work?

I'm having trouble accessing the write-up for removal of the radio from the first page.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good write-up w/ pics for this? I'm embarking on an FM-Modulator install in my brother-in-law's '98 ES300.

Also, I'm looking to put the connections in his arm-wrest center console. Anyone done this type of install and/or have feedback or suggestions?

Thanks!

Default 1994 ES300 Tranny problem

Hi, my ES300 is a 94 model. It runs fine but the other day the od light began flashing and it will go into OD then kick out. Also sometimes 3rd will "slip" then kick back in. it was doing fine until the other day. I have been reading about the self diagnostic check by jumping the plug. How is this done on the 94 es300 I found a plug next to the fuse box. The speedometer still reads out fine so I didnt know if the speed sensor would act like this.

The complete headlight HOW TO clean DIY + projector refinishing
Taken from SC's but same principle people. Just use something other than wax to clear up the housing thats all. A polish would work just fine

Just got done with removing the rear portion of the center console on my 03 ES300 so I could fix the front cupholder.

1. Remove the trim from around the gear shift ****. I used my fingers to pry up the rear section first, then pull up and to the rear of the car. Helps to have the trans in neutral. It has wires so don't drag it too far away.
2. You will see 2 phillips screws that join the front and rear sections of console. Remove those 2.
3. At the rear, remove the upper plastic piece with the air vents. With your fingers, pull straight back.
4. At the rear, remove the lower trim piece, pull straight back.
5. With the lower trim piece off, you will see 2 bolts attached to the floor, a few inches in (under the storage box). I used a swivel, socket, and extension. They are kinda hard to get to when putting back in.
6. The whole console assembly should lift straight up. But first, there are 2 places on the sides where the carpet hooks over 2 plastic tabs on the air ducts. They are about mid-way betwen front and back of the console. Find them with your finger tips and just slip them off. There is wiring attached so take care.
7. I had to replace the cupholder which was pretty easy, it's just 4 screws.
8. Installation is just the reverse.
