Honestly, if the brakes are OEM size, there is probably no difference in performance with slotted or dimpled rotors. The biggest change will come from better Brake pads. EBC green stuff is recommended.

I have cross drilled OEM size rotors all around on my 92 ES. The pads make the difference.

Cross drilled rotors are for bling bling pretty much (and they have a tendancy to warp). If you absolutely want to upgrade go with slotted.

Not really. Dimpled rotors mean less weight since there are holes in the rotor. Dissipates heat as well, though in my reading, not as well as slotted rotors.
Big brakes use both techniques. Porsche and Lambo, AMG Benzs used dimpled rotors. I see Aston Martin uses slotted.

I don't think Rotora makes a kit for the ES/Camry platform unless they've added it recently. There is a Brembo kit that was produced using F40 calipers and a few other custom kits made specifically for the Camry/Solara MCV20 platform.

If you are going to deal with aftermarket brakes, check and see if that company offers retrofit vented rotors for the rear wheels. Too many cars with 4-wheel discs ( including many Lexus products) offer vented rotors only up front.....the rear ones are solid, are much less effective in dissapating heat, and are more likely to warp.
To get vented rotors on all 4 wheels from the factory, you usually have to get high-performance sports cars or sports sedans.
Porsche offers what is probably the best solution of all....ceramic rotors that can withstand literally thousands of degrees of heat without warping...but I don't know of any aftermarket company that offers ceramics for Lexus.

1SICKLEX, you say that the pads are what makes the difference, what do i need to look for in a pad, what type of pad? Also, how long do aftermarket performance pads typically last compared to an OEM pad?

Pads are just one part of an upgraded brake system. Keep in mind most aftermarket brake pads do grip well, but they warp out the OEM rotors faster than most...and usually dust more and have a shorter lifespan compared to OEM pads. Depending on the materials of the aftermarket pad i.e. EBC Green Stuff, TRD, Performance Friction, Hawk or etc, look at half or even a 1/4 of the life of an OEM brake pad.

so, for the sake of looks.....will these rotors start to turn brown in color after a few weeks or do they stay shiny silver????

I got a quote for just the front and back rotors (Brembo) $160.00

Or I also got a quote for rotora ( picture below) of $383.00 F$R

any one have any expierience on if they change in color??? this is important to me.

All rotors will turn brown or rusty, no matter the material the rotors are made in. Not much can be done about it except cleaning them with a wire brush or brake cleaner, or parts replacement.

hey doug, I just talked to some dude from Cali, he claims his rotora (383.00) are e-plated and they will stay shiny siver forever...is he blowing smoke?
