I just hit 120,000 miles today on my 92, so far no major problems.

That is so awesome. I have a 96 ES and it has 193K miles on it and still going strong. One of these days I'll post some pics.

Reading these high mileage threads (case in point: check out the Corolla 400K thread in the "Car Chat" forum) makes me very satisfied to be part of the Lexus/Toyota strong and reliable engine group

120K seems to be a magical point for some ES transmissions, from what I can tell.

No, sorry.

Not saying it *will* go; however, my research showed that I wasn't anywhere near alone in needing a rebuild at 120K miles or thereabouts.

no problems here at 157k...still runnin strong...apparently very thankfully

mostly highway miles though. had to commute 3 hours with no traffic each day for the first 4 years...not many shift points there i guess.

Just getting broken in
I recently hit 105k in my SC and the engine is as smooth as ever.

I'm at 189,661 and still going good. I wonder if I can ever reach 300,000? Has this been done in a 1st gen. ES300 yet?

If your ES still came with the original engine and tranny, you should have no problem reaching 300K. A previous Lexus magazine showcased a 1990 LS owner with 550,000 original miles (no engine rebuild or anything). Just think of how far the ES could take if an LS can reach that far...
