Camry V6 = ES300? Tire Rack giving me probs
Well, I ordered H&R springs for the Camry 92-96 V6 models. This is what I got from one of their sales' reps.
What's the deal with this? Anyone know if I will run into any troubles with these springs?
We spoke with H & R and they say the springs for the Camry V-6 are not aggressive enough and most likely you would have trouble getting those installed. If you still want them I can check with our Sales Manager and if he approves the sell there would be no returning the springs, but I am not sure if he will even allow them to be sold.
We show that the ES300 has different mounts in the rear and that may not allow the springs to mount correctly.

We can sell the springs but they are not returnable and any fitment problems would be your responsibility. Just let me know if you still want and the tires which are wider than we recommend would be the same situation.

Yea... I know. I don't know what the deal is. Also, I haven't heard of anyone using H&R for 92-96 models...So I really don't know how well they run or whatever.
I might go ahead and go for the Intrax.

if there is a difference i would like to know as well

Well, I went ahead and ordered Intrax 1.6" from Todd and TM Engineering. I don't get why Tire Rack does that, I guess its a policy to ensure there are no returns unless the problem is actually with the product itself. Plus, it drops a little more than the 1.3" H&R.

Nothing is ever the same on anything.
Example:
SC300 And Sc400.... same body right? then why dont the window regulators fit from one to the other?
Answer: regulator was extended 1/2 inch to make sure you couldn't use them on the other model.

I went to the Tire Rack Upgrade Garage, and the only springs they're showing for the '96 ES are Eibach Pro-Kits, with a 1" drop. That's perfect for me, as I only want to snug the fender gap a little bit more with my 17s, don't want to worry too much about camber or looking funny when I put the stock wheels back on for the winter.
I'm guessing that you want these H&Rs because of a lower drop or desire for even tighter handling.

Yea, 1" will still leave a funny looking gap at front, so I was looking for lower. H&R goes 1.3" and Intrax goes 1.6". My first choice was H&R because of what people have said about Intrax. But it's all I have so I guess it will do for now.

I'd suggest you PM our ClubLexus rep from the Tire Rack (Brandon) with a link to this thread and see if he can help investigate the difference.

Keep this in mind...
You guys who are thinking of getting a spring kit like Eibach or H&R should heed caution when installing them into the ES. The factory struts are not going to last long with the upgraded springs, so you mind as well need to purchase a new set of struts like KYB, Tokico and similar. Other things to worry about your ride down the line include wheel balancing and alignment, speedometer accuracy, any rubbing on the suspension components, etc.
An interesting story here... I went to a local auto parts shop months ago and inquired about the Eibach Pro-Kit for my '01 ES. The guy behind the counter looked at me funny, saying and wondering why install such a spring kit on a luxury sedan (duh, for handling and looks). Then he turned to the inventory from the computer and said there's none available to fit in my ES. It was alright though, I just wanted to see the guy's reaction from the inquiry...

As a matter of fact, I ordered Tokico from "jdmwerks" on Ebay and received them today!!
Balancing and alignment I can get done.. How do you get your speedometer "fixed" when there is an upgrade to the suspension/wheels... and how will I know if there is rubbing on the suspension?

Speedometer changes
Not sure how wide your new tires are going to be, but be careful of getting wider tires as they could cause rubbing along the suspension components or the fender, especially when taking tight turns or going over bumps. If you do a search for "suspension rubbing" in the forums, you should yield some useful info. Hope this helps Juan.

Thanks for the warning on the tires and stuff, I kept on eye out on making sure I bought the right size rim and tire to minimize (if any) rubbing. I have 18x7.5, 42mm offset rims and 225/40/18 tires.
