I was wondering the same thing myself. 2 of my friends want to race me with there rice burners . One is a 4 banger 5 speed eclipse (base model, like 130hp i believe), the other is a 2k prelude 5spd. Both have a few minor bolt on's, like a muffler and intake...nothing major. I am pretty sure i can beat the eclipse but i am expecting to get raped by the prelude.

My stock SC300 5-speed, went 15.01 @92 mph, with 167,000 miles on her .. so it can break into high 14's with the correct driver and conditions.

Race on the highway. You'll have better chances plus most Honduhs have a speed governor at 120 mph and we don't, so you can go about 155 mph if you're car was healthy. I had a thread going not so long ago about me going 142 @ 5000 rpm with an M3 behind me (that couldn't catch up and was falling behind slowly).

Good point, my tires are ZR rated. Heheh.

Chris

PS. I hit 140 two times. One time I was racing a Porshe Carrera and the second time M3.

You will be able to beat the Eclipse RS and GS, both off the line and at speed, but not the GS-T or GSX. The latter models are turbocharged and will give you a good run.

However, the Prelude is a different problem. Preludes available with 5-speed manuals are SH models and those make 200 hp. As light as they are, it will give you problems, especially with a couple mods. Our cars are considerably heavier, even though we make 225hp.

I have a friend with a 98 Prelude (not SH), and my 97 SC300 can go only neck-to-neck with him. Both stock.

Sure you can! Due to AWD these cars start shutting down after 100 mph. If it's stock then you will take it. Stock they run high 14s/low 15s. They're not fast till you start modding them.

I hit 120 racing a Dodge stealth. Good race, neither of us pulled at all, it was dead even the entire time. He had an intae and muffer, my car was stock. But i was overdue about 6k miles for an oil change plus i didnt know how to drive back then.

yes, my car is an auto . But all i used to do was wait for the light to turn then floor it, nothin more. Now I have figured out what power breaking is and to ease off the throtle just before shifts.
