Toothdoc, your DA for your 11am run was 513ft. I updated my dragstrip journal in my signature for you.

BTW..Congrats on the new ride.

So I guess it wasn't so much DA but probably more launch issues then. It was the first weekend that the track was open - which is the same track I always went with my IS350. I can honestly say, 60' was a BIG problem for almost everybody there. Even guys with drag radials were having a difficult time launching so I'm not really that disappointed with the ET.

By the way, thank you for looking up the DA caymandive. I was hoping to crack into the 12's this year with my IS350 with the RE30s, but when I saw the IS-F a few weeks ago, I just couldn't help it. LOL

Lextasy, I assure you that you can TOTALLY FEEL ALL 100 HP difference between the IS-F and IS350 - just not so much in the first 30 mph but after that, forget it. I can roll at 15 mph and punch it and I'll leave black lines. Never could do that with my IS350. 3rd gear pulls on the IS-F feel almost like 2nd gear pulls on the IS350.

Bernard's IS-F ran 12.8@112 at Lonestar a few weeks ago. This was on a 2.1 60'. I think 1.8xx is doable based on what I've seen and the way my car feels, if that's the case then I think a 12.5@112-113 is real. I will keep you guys updated as when I rack up a few more miles I will take the IS-F to dyno and to the strip.

I think 1.8's are impossible w/o drag radials or softer suspension setup or moving weight to the back. With only 46% weight in the back and stiff suspension (no squat), it's really hard to not break traction. I'm looking for 17" rear rims now and looking for an appropriate drag tire. Anybody have suggestions? Later this fall, I'm going to start working less days so I'll be able to go drag racing like on weird days like Tuesday (less people there). I'll be able to perfect my launch and my setup. I don't think I'll ever change the suspension, but tires and wheels I'm willing to do. I might even do some other mods as they come along. Maybe carbon fiber rotors if they don't cost an arm and a leg.

BFG drag radials will do the trick. Size i really dont know but you can get them in 18s too.

Toothdoc, I was thinking about your runs and it dawned on me the IS-F's run the Michelin PS2 tires. I am also running these tires and I will say they suck for traction in cool temps. Seems that if the temp isn't above 70 degrees they will break traction fairly easy from a stop or a roll, so I wouldn't say it's all the cars fault with the stiffer suspension. I know you said that when you had your IS350 and it wouldn't break traction while driving 15mph, but I can tell you if you had PS2's on you would also have been lighting those rear tires up in smoke fairly easy in the cool. I guess the best thing for you is to hope the track is prepped well and heat up the tires slightly.

The dealer tech told me that the tires on the F are worthless if the temp. is below 40 degrees in a track setting. Not sure what that means for 60 degree temp though if they would really shine when it got hotter outside. Guess we'll find out soon.

I doubt you can put 17" wheels over the stock 14.2"F/13.6"R brake rotors.

I had a little over 800 miles that morning. Next time I go, I'm putting the RE30's (winter rims) and my old Dunlop Sportmaxx 18". If I still can't keep traction, I'm going to consider 17" rears and some drag radials. I suppose with 45 pound rotational weight reduction, even if I can't improve launch, I should be about .2 faster and maybe 3 mph faster also. I've read on some forums that every pound of wheel weight reduction is like 6 1/2 pound of car weight reduction. Sounds too optimistic to me but still, 45 pounds at even 3x is like taking off 150 pounds.

Later this fall, I'll have more people working for me which will allow me to go drag racing on Tuesdays (when nobody else is there) so I'll really be able to test different combinations and techniques. Can't wait until this fall! Maybe I'll even join a club or something and start possibly entry level tracking.

Uh, 800 miles? Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't you have to break-in the engine to get it's full potential? Isn't that after 1200 miles or so?

Took my IS-F to the track today. Track prep was minimal which led to a very slick track. The launch was very difficult to nail. This was my first time ever at a track so I think I did fine. My times were:
**All runs T/C off in sport mode
1)13.4 w/.512R/T and a 2.2 60' @ 105mph
2)13.4 w/.539R/T and a 2.218 60' @ 106 mph
3)13.3 w/.514R/T and a 2.142 60' @ 107 mph
4)Did not register. Best launch of the day, no wheelspin what so ever, and am 100% positive it would've been a 12 second run.

The times suck I know, but I am a rookie and have total confidence in this cars potential. With a good launch, this car is easily in the 12's. The track I was at was very slick, and my reaction times and launches were bad. I'll let you guys know when I head back, probably next week somtime.

Your reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. You could sit on the line for a minute and then hit the gas and it will say your reaction time is 60 seconds and your ET is still 13.3@107. In order to get your car Sub 13 seconds on that track in simiar conditions, you will need to hit sub 1.8 in 60' time. Not possible without drag radials.
