Default Finally went to the 1/4 mile track..............

O.k. , I know I need a baseline 1/4 mile run before I do any mods to the drivetrain, so last night happened to be the night. Not near perfect racing conditions, Bout 84 degrees, but anyways I was ready to have fun. My first attempt was right off of the highway 'bout 45 min from my house. I knew I wasn't cooled down enough, but wtf, I came here to see real life "situations". First I stagged with a 90 something camaro (he wouldn't start his car until the last sec he had to, cause he was afraid to get the motor to hot) It looked fast. I must say I was a little scared because of the sounds this car made, once started. I was running my car with a 100 pound system in the trunk as well as a full spare, jack and whatever other junk was in the trunk. I wanted to see true street form. I stagged and did no burnout (don't own a race car) and brought my rpm's up to 2,000 ,Vsc off , and power mode on. Well let me tell u I ate this camaro and was pretty happy 14.703 at 95.73 mph. The sled of a camaro went a low 15 or something (don't really know cause the guy who gave me my timeslip only gave me my time, he ripped it in half). Now I was ready to cool the car off a bit and was really thinking 'buot mid 14's. Next run was made re-setting the ecu right before the race, and shaking out my air filter. I lined up with a 92 mustang supercharged, oh well, I left the line at 2050 rpm and got a 14.6 at 94mph ( ) Anyway the mustang ate me with a 11.8. Wish I could of stayed longer but the wife wanted to go. Over all I was happy. I think I could get a 14.4, if I lose some extra stereo sit and other junk and a little more practice, but I wanted to see what times my car runs in everyday life. Not to bad for 128,000 miles. What do u guys think? Also ....My wife is now hooked on racing

Good runs man I bet the supercharged Mustang owner would have gotten rid of it in a heartbeat to have the GS400. Can't really blame him!!

Not to shabby for a GS IMO... With practice I'm sure you can get to the lower 14's.. Is a TC and 3.76 in the near future.. I'm sure that would help out alot... Good Luckk..

Thanx peeps, I don't think I could manage low 14's but I'm almost sure I can do 14.5. Just gotta get rid of the extra weight in the trunk. I have 2 video's, I just gotta figure out how to post.

With my 17's I have traction problems leaving the line without raising the RPM's... Did you try loading the brakes and then coming off the RPM's and launching at idle?

Those 60 foots aren't bad for that time. We have some vehicles at my track at higher altitude that hits from the 11 to 13 range and get 1.9 to 2.2

I know that Bradenton track very well. There is a friend of mine who sometimes brings his Z06 out there.

I loaded the car between 1500 rpm to 2000 (brake and gas) at the last sec, once the yellow light started to drop. Who knows if it was exact, because I was also looking at the tree lights.........I want to go back after I put some more work into the car. The 2nd run was loaded to 2050 rpm..or so. Cinflux u should go too as well as chuck b, being that we live in the same area. I know we don't have race cars but It would be fun anyways.

They are pretty decent, I think.... IF ... I could muster out a 2.0 or 2 and change 60' , The outcome would of been 14.4-14.5. Again, I think weight has more to do with this rather than traction. Who knows for sure??? I know it was a lot of fun..There were a lot of neon srt4's there running from 14.2 - 15.? some were faster but I probably didn't see, and some other cars that looked mad fast, but didn't perform. I wont talk about the other fast cars because there were soooo many. But I did see a 2005 bmw m5 blast down the track with a 12.6 at 126mph......

That is interesting about those SRT-4s. I also recall those times there on a visit not too long ago with my college roommate (the one with the Z06). We get some SRT-4s at my track that can go 13s, but some of these are regular ones with just an intake and some minor mods and they do just as well as the ones with the Mopar Stage 2 and Stage 3, which don't seem to add up to much here (or they didn't tune which is my greater suspicion).

Quick Reply: Finally went to the 1/4 mile track..............
