Yeah...looking at this gear is dream stuff.
Wallet hurt for anyone but full time peeps in that area. For those photographers, the expense is worth it. That said, for quality and consistency artificial means makes life easy. Some gear is night day at the results and the sets can be repeatable. Percy's work details more involved lighting set-up's and clients at that level expect the gear.
One of the product photographer's I talked with at a Vegas PMA/PPA show was telling me his client list for the year had allowed him to make big changes. At the show he had put in purchase orders for about $250K in gear to upsize his studio.
One of the local guys that shoots motocross and similar motor sports buys 6 bodies/year. His frame rate varies but he said average is 80-100K actuations/month. At the time, he was picking up 2-1D MkIV bodies. He's had standing orders for bodies. I haven't seen him in a spell but would anticipate if still with Canon it is now the 1DX he's buying.
Can be pretty crazy at the expenses.
