Thats some serious firepower you have

I am on a poor college student budget

Canon 40D
Canon 17-40L
Canon 70-200L 2.8 IS (Long Term Loan)
Canon 50 1.8 MK1
Tokina 12-24 f/4 (Might sell soon to raise some $)
Canon 430ex Flash

Hoya Pro1 HD UV Filter
Hoya Pro1 CPL Filter
Lee Filter Holder (but can't afford the filters yet)

Lens wise, it works well for what I do. I don't need any big primes since mobility is a MUST.

I do wish that I can afford the 70-200L 2.8L, a backup Xsi body for the wide-angle lenses, Pocket Wizards, and 3 Vivitar flashes.

40D
17-55 2.8 IS
135L
100 2.8 Macro
30 1.4

Some pocket wizards, some flashguns, a couple modifiers, a few stands and umbrellas.

Saving up money for a 5D2 + 85L + 35L

i'm not going to contribute to this thread because my old and suffering equipment is no match for the amount of gear that will be posted here.

D3

FA, F3, F4, F5 (all decomissioned...but in working order)

Ai 24-85mm 3,5-4,5

AF-D 20mm 2,8
AF 24mm 2,8
AF-D 50mm 1,4
AF-D 35mm 2,0
AF 85mm 1,8
AF-D 300mm 4,0
AF-D 17-35mm 3,5-4,5
AF-D 24-80mm 2,8-4,0
AF-D 80-200mm 2,8

SB400, mafrotto tripod, benro head.

Lots of old lenses, didn't buy any new ones since about almost 10yrs.
Would love to replace quite a few, but question of cash on the one side and waiting for new designs coming out on the other side.

Could do with a new wide and standard zoom, but 12-24 can't take protection filter and 24-70 is big and expensive. No AF-S alternatives for FF really yet...

50mm AF-S, 105mm AF-S micro on the definite wish list, but can do the job with lenses I have already, so no hurry.

I think you mean the 14-24mm cause the 12-24mm is still a DX/cropped lens. I would love to get my hands on a 105mm AF-S but I think I might go tubes and a fast prime.

You are right. 14-24 it is. Dream lens in terms of optics, but don't like size and not taking filter.
I love primes...but for travel zooms are more useful, otherwise bag is getting to heavy. And by to heavy I mean beyond 15kg...

3 zooms plus two small primes and one large prime are about the limit for travels. Like 18-35, 24-85, 80-200 zooms, then 35, 50, or 85 prime, then 20 prime, then 105 micro prime.

Ideally I would love to have two set ups...the 3 zooms and then a complete prime set up. Then pack depending on intended use.
If I go on a day trip in a city I easily do with a few primes and the 80-200.
But wallet (and Nikon lens series) denies perfect set up so far...

Bob, that's some serious firepower. I would bolt that to a top notch Gitzo tripod/Markins ballhead/RRS angle bracket... You don't want to be hand holding that gear for too long, lest you risk a serious hernia!
