With a response like that, it's obvious you want to stay stupid.

I'm sure the mfg expected it to last 2 years, I mean, why else would they replace it under warranty for you?

I am not that smart to spent $200 for a battery that lasts 2 years. None of my previous OEM batteries in over 30 years lasted 2 years. People got excited about the brand or technical name but not how long it lasts. I mean there are plenty of better batteries out there that will last longer that this OEM battery.

I noticed.

I have had many batteries from brand new cars not last 2 years.
The Panasonic that came with my WRX barely made it past the 1 year mark.
What did I replace it with? An Odyssey AGM battery.

The point I tried to make, and keeps going over your head, is that the battery failed prematurely for you.
That's why it was covered under warranty.

I'd love to know what you think you'll replace it with, if you keep the car long enough for this one to die on you.

No, that's a top secret ! All my previous cars lasted over 15 years/ 200000 miles at least. Hint is NON-OEM batteries for sure. You should be smart enough to figure that out.

Last week, my wife tried to start the car and the "Ready" light wouldn't come on, all the dash lights would come on and stay on, and when I tried to turn it off, it wouldn't. After a minute or so, I was able to turn the lights off. After trying several times to turn it on, it wouldn't, all the lights would come on and stay on but it wouldn't go on. Finally, I called the dealer and they sent AAA out. They jumped it, and I crossed my fingers it wouldn't happen again. It happened twice more in the coming days.

So, I took it to the dealer on Saturday and explained the issue. About 2 hours later, the dealer calls me and tells me that sure enough, it is the auxiliary battery and that it was covered under warranty, although I only had a couple of months left so it was a good thing it acted up when it did. Went back about 2 hours after they called, picked it up and was on my way.

The CT200 has two batteries, the auxiliary and the one that helps assist the engine. So, like most non-hybrid cars, the factory battery only lasts about 3 years if your lucky. Well, I guess the CT200 is no different, although from what I read, the 12V CT200 battery is a little pricey. Apparently this is not that uncommon, but there are few write-ups about this anywhere.

Great customer service like always from Lexus. We continue to average 43-45mpg in the city, 40-42 cruising at 70-75mph and 37-38mpg cruising at 80 with 4 people in the car.

Time to keep enjoying my CT200.

No $200 battery should be expected to last “2” years! I don’t care who or what it’s made of! ...It’s a RIPOFF!!
