From LS430 to CT200?
Hey CL CT people,
Any of you go from a LS to a CT? Or own both? Just bought an old house and the LS just barely fits into the garage...a little too close for my comfort or for the long term. Unfortunately, it's an old house (built before cars were invented...probably converted from an old horse stable) and the CT is the only Lexus skinny enough to fit into the garage. Parking outside isn't an option.
How rough is my adjustment going to be from a LS to a CT? I recently rented a Prius and while it was no LS, it was ok for a rental car. I'm hoping the CT is going to be a little better.
BTW, before any of you folks start recommending an ES or IS, you should know that the LS430 is 72 inches wide and the IS is 71.3 and the ES 71.7 inches. The CT is the only Lexus less than 71 inches wide at 69.5.

You're the best judge Wiley. Drive it, fit your essentials in it, see if it serves your purpose. Fortunately for us, the dealerships and salespeople are very patient and helpful in that way.
Not trying to be a hard ***; it's just that these topics bring a lot of personal opinion, but no one is going through your situation or constraints.

Yes you will love this car but get an f sport model I upgraded from my regular ct to an f sport big difference suspension. I was not happy with the drive but when went back and drove an f sport loved it.

Thanks Stillline! Lots of good info there. I dunno if the CT will work out for me. It might feel a little too stripped down after the LS. Now to find another ride...

Where you be?
swegyptian, Where in Illinois are you located? I've had my CT for 9 1/2 months and I've yet to see another on the road in my neck of the woods. My wife and I are planning a cross country vacation in the CT since it's the most comfortable Lexus we own and it gets twice the fuel economy.

Different cars with different purposes, so it depends on what you're looking for in particular. I imagine part of the appeal of a LS is to have a nice large cruiser. You won't get that with the CT. I don't own an LS, but can comment on differences between a '13 GS350 and '14 CT200h F-Sport.
- Ride quality is smoother in the '13 GS350. Base CT200h (non F-Sport) might be a better comparison, but the GS has a longer wheelbase which I imagine helps a bit, and the LS is even longer.
- Interior amenities in general are better in the '13 GS350. Obviously you're paying for more, but even the redundant volume/station controls on the CT feel a bit too cheap and small to me compared to the controls on the GS steering wheel. You can of course max out and fully load a CT, but there are going to be certain items that you just won't be getting (e.g. the GS has a remote rear sunshade, blindspot monitor, etc. that you can't get in a CT).
- Gas mileage is obviously better in the CT, although it's obviously not going to win points on power. Depends on how you drive and your needs. I have a Corvette if I want to have some fun. CT was really just meant as a commuter. I don't plan on whipping around tight turns in subdivisions squealing my tires in the CT. It will be more nimble than an LS though if you drive around in tight places.
- Altogether though, the CT is a solid car, but it's at a $50k deficit relative to an LS, so don't be disappointed that it doesn't have a built-in refrigerator. You really do have to align your expectations properly.
