Tire Replacement - OEM Michelin MXM4 or Pirelli Cinturato P7 ?
My dealer tells me that it is time to replace the original tires on my CT at 45,000 miles. My choice has come down to OEM Michelin Primacy MXm4 or Pirelli Cinturato P7. The Pirelli's are about $150 cheaper but the Tire Rack reviews look pretty good (including snow traction) . Anyone have any experience with the Pirelli's?

I am not familiar with your model car the CT......but I have a 12 page tire thread on the LS430 forum u might want to read. quick answer....sure u prob cant go wrong w the MXV4s.....but u ask about the Pirellis. I have them on my 04 LS430 and they are a very nice tire. On tire Rack it is very difficult to find a negative remark about the Pirellis and there are tons of reviews. The MXV4s are a great tire too but for some reason get very mixed reviews...some great...some say will never buy again....Michellin also has the Premier AS that just came out which is getting great reviews.......
I will just say I am very happy with my Pirellis......good luck with your search

My vote is neither. I chose Michelin Pilot AS/3. While I may no longer participate in having the best MPG figures, at least I know I'll have the best available turn-in and braking figures for an all season tire.

Those are two very good tires, but I would recommend the Pirellis. The Michelins have been around for a long time, and they are beginning to show their age. Their newer competitors, like the Pirellis, have surpassed the bar set by the MXM4s. The Pirellis will be smoother, quieter, and better in snow.

Take a look at my thread about hitting 300k miles. I posted a quick tire review summary which includes a set of P7s I had bought:

I love the Continental Control Contact Sport A/S at Discount Tire. Discount Tire used to carry the Continental DWS and they were amazing. These are the 3rd set I've put on my cars plus 1 set on the miss' car. They're soft, quiet, and comfy. Not much of a sporty tire though.

I was just reading through this thread and noted several members stating that the Michelin Primacy MXV4s are:
A. the best tire (for quietest, softest riding category)
B. have been discontinued.
Tirerack has it listed as available (see below) for 16s, 17s and 18s. Am I reading the thread wrong? I know there's an MXM4 and an MXV4. Members seem to like both, but they both seem to be available. Still not sure which of the two is the best tire for comfort and quiet. Once I figure out how to replace my 18s on my '05 with 16s or 17s, I plan on getting these Primacys as part of my continuing quest for the softest ride EVER.

I bought P7s on dec14 2018, and like them a lot. Great all season tire. Came from OEM Michelins. I see maybe 1 or 2 mpg less. It is getting really hot now in Norcal. So this summer will test these tires and see how they do. Good luck.

The Michelin Premier A/S is a replacement for the recently discontinued MXV4. But it is a new tire with its own pros and cons. I'm about to put on a set to replace my OEM MXM4s. Reviews seemed mixed as with most all tires. The longer tread wear specs are pushing me towards the premiers because my OEM MXM4s are already to replace at only 30k miles. Costco has a great deal on Michelin's if you use the Costco credit card right now. They quoted me $625 out the door for a set of 4 Premiers and $608 for MXM4s.
