No brakes or gears? Cool. Dixie Dude, is your rack the Swagman Semi 2.0? As I said in my original post, I'm a 65 year old woman (I'm 65; haven't clue why I said was 66) -- how heavy is the rack? And how easy do the cam levers work to fold the rack up against the car? thanks.

Yes that is the one. I'm not sure of the actual weight, but I think it's fairly light. There's one latch to fold it up and back. Really simple. I like that no part of the rack touches the frame.

Has anyone tried a trunk mount, or does the spoiler get in the way?

Default How many bikes do you plan to carry? And how heavy?

I have the Curt hitch and ended up with a Sportwing rack (all from eTrailer).

Here's mine...

This is the clearance when I have the rack setup to carry 1 bike...

This is the clearance when I have it set to carry 2 bikes...

This is the ground clearance...
Bottom tire of 29er = 7-8 inches (depending on sway).
Bottom of bike rack = 9 inches.

The reason why I went with this rack was it is SUPER light & SUPER easy to install. It is literally made of 3 parts, and when when I remove the bike to ride, I literally remove the rack from the hitch and toss it in the trunk. If however if you choose not to do that, you can still open the trunk with the rack on (without a bike of course).

As a side note: The angle makes the big HUGE compared to the car...however when driving, you can BARELY see the tires from the side mirrors.

I need some reassurance. I just purchased the Curt hitch and a Swagman Trailhead 4. TheCurt install instructions say a stabilizing strap is needed for warranty reasons does anyone have an opinion on this one. Here is the video from Curt concerning the use of the strap.

Cant comment on the swagman...but I've been able to safely take the Curt hitch with bike rack pictured above to about 90 MPH without issues.

I've got a Curt hitch with a Swagman XC2 (older, all metal rack that holds bikes by the wheels with a ratcheting hook holding the frame down).

I've never used a stabilizing straps. My full suspension bike is almost 40 pounds. In fact, there are usually two 40 pound bikes on my rack, and I take the freeway to certain trails.

No problems here.
