Talking My CT200h road trips

As it turns out, my new 2013 CT is the most comfortable car I've ever owned. While not the roomiest, the driver's seat just hugs me perfectly and gives me the back support needed to log some serious miles on the road.

A couple weeks ago I drove about 700 miles to Fort Worth in about 12.5 hours. Drove the same trip back 4 days later.

Last weekend I drove the CT to Toledo and back in one day for a total of 960 miles in about 16.5 hours. I used 24.5 gallons of gas on that trip.

Every other vehicle I've owned, including my wife's 2010 RX 350, has resulted in lower back pain and a lot of fidgeting around in the seat after 4 or 5 hours straight. Not so in the CT. I never thought a compact car would be my road trip vehicle of choice.

BTW, I drove to Toledo to pick up wheels/tires for my SC430. Even the SC isn't as comfy as the CT.

As another CT200h and SC430 owner I agree with you.

Our CT has leather package because I needed memory seats. After my wife drives the CT it's impossible for me to get into the CT because she pulls seat almost all the way up and I'm 6' 230 lbs. With the memory seat option after I touch the door handle to enter the car the seats and mirrors adjust for me.

I also have back issues and the Prius we had caused me back pain after 45 minutes of driving. We looked at new Prius and the seats were still uncomfortable no matter what seat options we tried.

I ordered a loaded Prius anyway but before it arrived I stopped by the Lexus dealer and sat in the CT and the leather seat option fit me like a glove.

We do a 4 hour drive across Florida several times a month. My back never bothers me in the CT.

I can confirm that the CT seats a way more comfortable than the 2010 Prius IV I had. StillLine is right, the front seats hug me perfectly.

"Even the SC isn't as comfy as the CT." That's pretty high praise, as I find my SC430 more comfortable on long trips than my RX350, even though the interior is quite a bit smaller (but the V8 power is a smooth and quite joy, not to mention loads of fun). If the CT is more comfortable, I may look into it. (Right now I am seriously considering the RC350 - we shall see.)

I'd say from a long distance comfort point of view, our SC430 and RX350 are about equal. Which is to say that they are both super comfy luxury cocoons that nearly anyone, including me, could hit the road in and be super happy. I was just astounded with how I spent such long hours in the driver's seat of the CT200h and didn't end up fidgeting around with tailbone/lower back discomfort like I have in the other two. Like I said, the seat just hugs me, and I mean hugs me as I'm a pretty big dude (6'2" - 285#). Keep in mind that the CT200h is no power house and sounds like a giant hoover vacuum when accelerating, although it will sit on the interstate and cruise at 70 mph all day and get about 40 mpg. Slow 'er down a bit and fuel economy improves substantially.

CT vs. RC - Talk about comparing apples vs. oranges. Are you thinking of replacing the SC?

Smile Another road trip.

Took another road trip in the CT recently to Wisconsin to visit a friend. It was nice to drive 400 miles one way and fill up for less than $30 in gas (8.5 gal).

Gonna take a vacation to the Alabama Gulf Shores in September and was considering taking the SC430 for some top down fun. I've decided to take the CT because it will use half the gas and is more comfortable.

I've also owned a 2009 LS460. It had gobs of power, floating suspension, great audio system, but the seats caused me to squirm after about an hour. The CT seats allow me to remain comfortable for hours on long trips.

I hated the seats in my wife's Prius.

Maybe Lexus should consider putting the CT seats in other Lexus models such as the RX, ES and SC...

Ironically, I was thinking this very same thing on my road trip to the Gulf Coast. I saw many different Lexus models on our trip to include two SC430's, two other CT200h's and countless RX's, IS's, ES's, GS's and LS's. We drove about 1750 miles total and averaged 46 mpg calculated. My wife and I agree that the seats in the CT are the most comfortable we've had in any vehicle.
