0w-20 or 0w-16 obil1 full synthetic. ??
I diy most of the maintenance on ct. Lexus/Toyota Manufacturer recommends use 0w-20 f/s for 2014 ct200h base. Like to try the 0w-16 (same $) does it get better mpg? Or same?. Whats the major difference from 20->16. Mobil1 is only brand I seen to make 0w-16. Is this in latest type/grade of full/syn oil used for lex/toy motors. ?
For select Honda & Toyota only. Also recommended for hybrids.
Regular full synthetic

The new UX200/250h uses the 0W-16 spec oil. The UX is the "spiritual" successor to the CT200,
but has a 2.0L rather than the 1.8L, AWD and a bit more room in the back. Oh, and it's base price is
$34,000 rather than $32,200 ($33,204 in 2019 dollars!) and you get Safety Connect for 10 years
instead of only 12 months.

I wondered myself if Toyota/Lexus would give the green light on this.
My guess is it would probably be OK but i wouldn't chance it unless Lexus approves. Lots of testing would need to be done. Main bearings, rod bearings, clearances, heat handling, filtration, volume, etc.
stick with what the current recommendation is.

10k is a wee bit short to judge whether or not using a thinner oil is OK. If you did use an oil just outside of the internal limit decided by a manufacturer, you may already have particle streaks in your main bearings. Those tolerances are generally designed with a particular viscosity range in mind. We just don't know where such an oil would fall. I suspect there's a chance it could be fine, but I'd rather see an OK from Toyota or know that Toyota specs this oil for this same powertrain in other countries. Glad to know you at least got 10k out of it though
