Default Side view mirror went boom!

I just need the mirror since my wife hit a plastic trash can, probably going like 30mph, because a Porsche didn't want to go in a puddle and swerved into her lane. This shattered the glass in the housing. The protective film took most of the impact and saved the paint. Mirror housing still feels solid too.

My questions are these: Where do I get a replacement glass? Are the mirrors heated/auto-dimming?

When shattered I didn't see any of that liquid that is supposed to be inside of auto-dimming ones and it doesn't look like there's a heat grid behind it so I'm guessing it's just plain glass.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks CL.

Ok, so after a bunch of hours searching (why does Lexus hate DIYers?!) I found the part number I need.
Part #s:
8793176040 (RH)
8796176040 (LH)

Posted here in case anyone searches in the future.

This is why I say Lexus doesn't like DIYers. I called the dealer and asked for the part, they looked up the VIN and told me the mirrors were just glass. No auto-dim, not heat. They also wouldn't give me the part number. I go to peel off what's left of the shattered glass and there are two contacts and a heat grid behind.

I'm guessing that heated mirrors are standard and activates when you hit the defrost button. There is only one part number for the glass that I could find and they are all the same price. Sewell was around $61 before shipping w/ CL discount ($74 total). Part is normally around $84 without shipping or CL discount.

Speaking of a douche in a Porsche:

"The man behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 tried to take a shortcut through some cones in San Francisco - only to see his car sink slowly into some wet cement."

Sounds like this kind of behavior has a way of back-firing.

Sorry about your CT. Let us know how everything fits with the new parts.

Got the OEM Lexus part in today. It isn't just the glass, it already comes attached to the plastic housing. Made the install a 1 minute affair. Had the same heating grid on it so I take it that it definitely is a standard option on all of our cars.

That's good to know. I was searching too to see if there was a different part number.
